My Dear Ones,
Wow! What a month March has been! Don't you agree? The devastation from the Coronavtus is universal and so contagious that everything has shut down, and we are ordered to are all ordered to stay home and not mingle with other people. There's never been anything like this before, but Americans are strong and resourceful, and will come through this okay. It's just too bad that so many have to die, before this is conquered. I do hope that you do not get infected and are able to stay healthy and strong until it is over. And I do hope you have enough money and supplies to see you through this crisis.
I thought it was funny how quickly the stores were depleted of toilet paper, as if that were the most precious thing in the world, even more so than food. Since we have been reminded that other paper products are not to be flushed down the toilet, my daughter, True, has gotten creative and made soft flannel wipes that can be used, then washed, and used again. I told her, "That's nothin' new. Sounds like the diapers I used on you as a baby".
I am glad, for my benefit, that my other daughter, Linda, who works in the Century 21 realty office, was able to be offnot only to have more time to work on the old house bought and is refurbishing, but also to be available to help me when I had a fall on St. Patrick's Day and injured a couple of ribs. Yes, I was using the vacuum, pushing it back and forth, when I suddenly fell backwards, hitting my right side on a wooden footstool. Ah, 'tis luck of the Irish ... oh yeah! I didn't really need that, along with the cancerous sore on the same leg that has been giving me such a problem, but maybe it was because I had boasted that I had never fallen, as so many of my friends had, that that I had this as my 'comeuppance'. And there's no pill you can take to help ribs. They just have to wrapped tight and left to heal on their own. So, that's my situation now.
The result of my trip to Portland was that I should have a PET scan to see if the melanoma was still centered only in the right leg, and then begin a set of four treatments, one every three weeks, using the immunofusion system to test this new drug to see if it can help my situation. So, after making sure that my insurance will cover this, I'm now left waiting for appointment scheduling to begin.
But enough about me and my ailments, I'd like to know more about you. I have had a letter from one, and a phone call from another, but I'd really like to hear from all of you, by one means or another.
Take care, stay safe and healthy, and know that I love you and do long to hear from you.
